Pocket Caravan’s sound features deep world groove with spirited improvisation. Started as a collaboration between songwriter / guitarists Jonathan Chi and Gregory Haldan at In the Pocket Studio in Forestville, CA, this project has brought together musicians from around the world including: Bassist Yossi Fine (David Bowie, Stanley Jordan, the Ex-Centric Sound System), members of Hamsa Lila – MJ Greenmountain and Ian “Inkx” Hermann (Paul Simon, Sting), Bay Area keyboard veteran Mike Emerson (Zigaboo Modeliste, Percy Sledge), and bassist John-Paul McLean. The result can be heard on their debut album Watching the World Go By. The album blends african and middle eastern rhythms, male and female vocals, strong compositions and guitar driven improvisation.  |
